As a part of its May 2000 celebration of filmmakers, the British
Film Institute will run the first Preston Sturges retrospective
ever shown in England. They plan to exhibit:

THE PALM BEACH STORY (1942)
HAIL THE CONQUERING HERO (1944)
THE MIRACLE OF MORGAN'S CREEK (1944)
THE GREAT MOMENT (1944)
THE SIN OF HAROLD DIDDLEBOCK (1946)
UNFAITHFULLY YOURS (1948)
THE BEAUTIFUL BLONDE FROM BASHFUL BEND (1949)
THE FRENCH THEY ARE A FUNNY RACE (Les Carnets du Major Thompson)
(1957)
The gem of the retrospective, however, will be the world premiere
of the recovered THE POWER AND THE GLORY, to be presented thanks
to the heroic efforts of Bill Mechanic and Fred Chandler of 20th
Century Fox who found a copy of the film, had it restored, digitally
re-recorded and remastered.
